We’ve had the chance to try Starlink out. After~ six months of use, all I can say is: it’s fine for streaming and downloading large files, but it’s not great for video calls or gaming (or other latency-sensitive tasks). Besides, the dish’s power consumption, CGNAT, and the CEO’s political agenda make it a hard pill to swallow. DSL (for the time) rules.
Update: 22.08.2026 My beloved APU2 crossed the river Styx, may his passage be a reunion with the heroes of old (WRT54GL). After some searching found a more consumer friendly - and made in eu! - successor: FRITZ!BOX 5690 Pro "NosferatuZodd". One thing is sure: it was a hell of a lot easier to set up (and it integrates well with the WiFi APs). With the same breath I ditched the self hosted DNS and switched to DNS4EU.
